Rating Methodology

How we evaluate and score crypto exchanges.

Each exchange on TradersProgress is evaluated across five weighted categories. The overall rating (shown as a score out of 5.0) is a weighted composite of the scores below. All data is sourced directly from exchange fee pages, CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko, and verified manually.

Trust & Security (30%)

·CoinGecko Trust Score (1–10) — based on web traffic, liquidity and trading volume consistency
·Years in operation and security track record (hacks, exploits, fund losses)
·Cold storage percentage of user funds
·Two-factor authentication and withdrawal whitelisting
·Proof-of-Reserves status where available

Fees (25%)

·Spot maker and taker fees at standard (non-VIP) tier
·Futures maker and taker fees
·Withdrawal fees for BTC and ETH
·Fiat deposit and withdrawal fees
·Native token discount availability and discount size

Features & Products (20%)

·Spot, futures, margin, staking, copy trading, OTC and DeFi availability
·Built-in trading bots (grid, DCA, smart order)
·Mobile app quality (iOS & Android)
·API access for algorithmic trading
·NFT marketplace and launchpad / IEO availability

Coin Selection & Liquidity (15%)

·Total number of listed coins (sourced from CoinMarketCap)
·Number of active trading pairs
·Daily 24-hour spot volume in USD
·Liquidity depth on major pairs (BTC/USDT, ETH/USDT)

Regional Availability & Compliance (10%)

·Number of supported regions and countries
·Regulatory status: licences held (FinCEN, FCA, MAS, JFSA, MiCA)
·KYC requirements and privacy options
·Fiat on/off-ramp availability and payment methods supported

What we do not score

User reviews from Trustpilot and App Store ratings are shown for context but are not factored into the overall score — they are easily manipulated and vary wildly by region. Bonus amounts are also excluded from the rating; they are tracked separately and noted where available but are not a quality signal.

Data freshness

We aim to verify fee data at least monthly. Each exchange entry shows a verified date next to the fee source link. Exchange conditions change frequently — always cross-check the live fee page before placing a trade. If you spot an error, please contact us at hello@tradersprogress.com.
